Hello Amazing Humans,

The Solstice coordination team would like to inform you of the following information….

Mark it down in your calendars, as this one will be the best one yet!

Yes, you read that correctly, we are taking a break from throwing the gathering in 2019.

We want our community to know that we have not taken this decision lightly. It was a very emotional conversation, but we came to the realization that this is necessary to ensure our beautiful gathering can continue to grow and flourish.

The journey of our cherished annual gathering has always been a dynamic and evolving one.  From the early days of the tremendous Om Festival to our much more modest grassroots Re:union, to our ever growing Solstice Gathering; our community’s celebration has been reflective of the needs of the community.

When Re:union began in 2005 it was a dramatic switch in intention from the previous Om Festival. That year we were a mere 400 people. It was a family affair with everyone working together to fulfill the necessary tasks.

To this day, we carry that ethic of co-operative participation to make the gathering run smoothly, safely and effectively. We rely on your essential participation - from workshops to food donations to Membershifts, art, and performance.  We are incredibly grateful for all your efforts and energy!

As our gathering grew so did the need for increased logistics and production. This added workload onto key areas of the gathering to meet these needs. We have done our best to adjust and adapt our systems to provide you with the highest quality experience.

The Om Reunion Project consists of a Collective, and 40+ Area Coordinators. These individuals volunteer for countless hours, year-round to create the magic that exists at the gathering. Over the years, several vital members from our coordination team have stepped down. Folks moved on due to a myriad of different reasons. A common theme was the feeling of being overburdened by the efforts required to make the gathering happen. Also, the need for an inspiring, long-term vision was also desired by the coordination team.

We are giving ourselves a year to Re:boot!

We are seeking a fresh and ambitious path towards this next chapter in the Solstice journey!

  • We are spending the next year crafting a revised organizational model and long-term vision.

  • We plan to examine and update the way our organization conducts itself, nurtures itself and supports our community in bold new ways.

  • Our goal is to operate with an eye to being more innovative, sustainable, inclusive, and transparent.

After this year of metamorphosis, Solstice Gathering will emerge with a renewed, improved, and brighter, vision in 2020.
